APPT returns to Manila for Season 2

Although it’s not the first stop for the second season of the tour, the APPT will kick off its main event in Manila on Thursday. It will mark the bringing together of the APPT with the Filipino Poker Tour. Since the APPT hit Manila last year, the Philippines has matured into the strongest poker market on the continent, according to PokerStars



Eastgate becomes youngest Main Event winner

Last night Peter Eastgate of Odense, Denmark, became the youngest player ever to win the Main Event title, topping Russia’s Ivan Demidov en route to winning $9,152,416 – the second-largest prize in tournament poker history.

After 104 hands of heads-up action dominated almost entirely by the 22-year-old Dane, Eastgate turned the wheel straight to counter his Russian adversary’s two pair and clinch the title, claiming his first World Series of Poker bracelet and a first prize totaling $9,152,416 becoming the youngest-ever WSOP  Main Event-winner in the process. After the November Nine were reduced to the November Two over more than fourteen hours of play on Sunday, Demidov and Eastgate returned to the Rio’s Penn and Teller Theater at 10 p.m. on Monday evening to finish the job, battling it out in front of a raucous crowd of hundreds of poker fans who jammed the auditorium to witness the event.



Dane wins LEOCOP IV main event

“We attracted a good field and the money added generated a record-breaking prize pool of gigantic proportions for the 600-plus runners, $918,000, which easily made it the best value online tournament for an age,” said Edward Ihre, Ladbrokes Poker managing director. The biggest beneficiary of that prize pool was hahila. The Danish player put up the $1,00+$100 buy-in and picked up a $230,000 win
